James Henry Nagel, age 74, passed away on January 4th, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO after an extended illness. He was born to Laura (Richter) and Alfred Nagel, Sr. on August 21st, 1942 in Dodgeville. He graduated from Dodgeville High School in 1961 and entered the US Army after graduation. He had basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO and tech training at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD as a heavy equipment mechanic. He served numerous tours of duty in Japan, Vietnam and Korea. He retired from the Army in 1983 with 22 years of service and with a rank of Master Sergeant. He then worked as a civilian contractor to the Army in Kuwait and Fort Leonard Wood. He enjoyed using his mechanical skills in his hobby of building and overhauling lawn and garden equipment and loved raising Schnauzers. 
Jim is survived by his brothers, Alfred Nagel, Jr, Montello, WI and Robert A. Nagel (Donna), Lynn Haven, FL and several nieces and nephews. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Wendell, a sister Marian Raess, brother-in-law Paul Raess, sister-in-law Shella Nagel and nephew John Raess. 
Private family burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Cobb, WI at a later date.
