James L. "Jim" Henry, age 74, of Dodgeville, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg following a brief illness. Jim was born on November 30, 1943 in Dodgeville to Archie and Lois (Leiber) Henry. He was a 1961 graduate of the Dodgeville High School. Jim served in the U.S. Army in Germany from March of 1965 until March of 1967. He worked on Road Construction as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He had been a member of Local 139 since 1972 and an A.A. Member for over 40 years. He was baptized at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dodgeville on April 15, 2014. His happiest day was November 8, 2014, when he married the love of his life and best friend, Joan Polodna Balk following a 35-year courtship. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepdaughter, Patricia Meyer on November 22, 1986; an infant grandson, Joshua Michael Balk; a brother, Allen on August 7, 1978 and a sister, Shirley Nixon on November 6, 2008.
Jim is survived by his wife, Joan of Dodgeville; three sisters, Doris McLaughlin of Vacaville, CA; Janice Olson of Avoca and Linda (David) Renz of Ridgeway; his brother, Bernard (Gretta) Henry of Adams, TN; Joan's children, Ken (Saundra Hopkins) Balk of Sun River, OR; Kathy (Jerry) Severson of Salem, WI; Kevin (Cindy) Balk of Platteville; Al (Tammy) Balk of Reedsburg and Tim (Laurie) Balk of Dodgeville; ten grandchildren nine great grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews and many friends.
A Memorial Mass for James L. "Jim Henry will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, May 5, 2018 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dodgeville with Msgr. Daniel Ganshert officiating. Inurnment will be in East Side Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Friends may call at the church on Saturday after 11:00 a.m. Online condolences may be made at www.houckfuneralhomes.com
