Doral "Rich" Richardson Sr., age 66, of Mount Horeb, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 22, 2010.
He was born in Dodgeville, on October 30, 1943. Rich was born and raised in Dodgeville, and was the son of Ross and Ethel (Granberg) Richardson. On December 31, 1966, he married Sharon S. Corya in Seattle, Wash. He joined the U.S. Army in 1961, and completed two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. He began working for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in 1975, where he remained for 33 years, retiring in 2008. He had recently come out of retirement to work with his son, Doral Jr., at Hunger Task Force of Milwaukee.
Rich loved his family and enjoyed playing computer games, watching NASCAR and the Packers, and spending time fishing. He was a continual learner and was known to many as the "go-to guy" for problems of all magnitudes. Rich was a mentor and friend to many. We will miss him dearly.
Rich is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; his four sons, Doral Jr. (Linda) of Hartland, Ross (special friend, Colleen) of Lodi, Brandyn (Angela) of Cross Plains, Sean (Vicki) of Mount Horeb; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He is also survived by his mother, Ethel Richardson of Verona; his sisters, Rita (Alan) Moldenhauer of Belleville, Rena (Dick) Young of Monroe, his brother, Lonny Richardson of Madison; other relatives, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ross, in 2007.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at ELLESTAD CAMACHO FUNERAL HOME, 500 N. 8th Street, Mount Horeb, with Mr. Lowell Stuessy officiating. Full Military Honors will be accorded. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 27, 2010, at ELLESTAD CAMACHO FUNERAL HOME, 500 N. 8th Street, Mount Horeb.
