*Following is a remembrance note written for P.E.O. Chapter M about Cathryn Perkins:
She was a lady, sweet and kind, her goodness lingers in your mind.
She was Cathryn Mundy Perkins, a P.E.O. member for 46 years. My first awareness of Cathryn was when my 7th grade brother, Bob Perkins, extolled the virtues of his classmate, Cathryn Mundy. Cathy and Bob were a team, best friends through the grades and in high school where they went to Prom together. College years found Bob at U.W. and Cathy at Platteville State Teachers College, but they never lost touch. After graduation, Cathryn's first year of teaching was at Milledgeville, Illinois, where Bob made the long trek to visit.
On June 15, 1939, Cathryn Mundy became Mrs. Robert M. Perkins, and thus was started a truly happy and devoted marriage. Cathryn Perkins was a wonderful homemaker. She also enjoyed fishing, boating and motor-homing with Bob. Their very frequent companions in these exciting pursuits were their dear friends, Katie and Clell Tarrence.
For 37 years, Cathryn was a much loved second grade teacher at Dodgeville Elementary School. Mrs. Perkins was adored because she added ingredients of love and caring to her pupils' learning. She always had a special interest nature shelf with a frog or a garter snake which Bob helped her catch and display in a small cage.
Cathryn cared deeply about her husband, her other family members, her students, her church, and especially her beloved sisters in P.E.O. Always you'll hold dear in your mind memories of Cathy, sweet and kind.
