Jane Roudebush, 82, Madison, formerly of Dodgeville, died Friday, April 9, 1999 at Oakwood Village in Madison following a long illness. The former Jane Johns was born August 24, 1916 in Dodgeville to Thomas and Edith (Williams) Johns. She was a graduate of the Dodgeville High School and a 1938 graduate of the Platteville Teachers College. Jane was an elementary teacher in Richland Center, Dodgeville and she retired after many years with the Madison School District. She married John Roudebush on April 3, 1942 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple lived in Madison their entire married life. John preceded her in death on July 29, 1992.
Survivors include nieces, nephews and her friend, Marie Metry, Monona. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Johns on June 2, 1937; her mother, Edith Johns on January 16, 1968; and two sisters, Mary Phillips and Ida Harris.
A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 12 at East Side Cemetery in Dodgeville with Pastor Beryl Melcher officiating. The Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home, Dodgeville, served the family.
